DIFFICULT AIRWAY WORKSHOP
Enhance your hands-on skills and fulfil ACEM procedural CPD requirements. Strictly limited numbers ensure you get the opportunity to sharpen your skills. The workshop covers a variety of approaches required to manage the patient with a difficult airway including video-assisted laryngoscopy, endoscopic and percutaneous surgical techniques.

Our faculty comprises senior practitioners in emergency medicine, critical care, anaesthesia, medicine and surgery from Australia's leading teaching hospitals.
Craig Walker
Craig is an adult and paediatric intensivist and was the foundation director of Paediatric ICU at Monash Medical Centre. Interests include all aspects of physiology, the ethics and philosophy of medicine, and palliative care.
Marlene Soma
Marlene is a paediatric ENT surgeon with interests in airway pathology, sleep disordered breathing, voice and swallowing problems. Her post-graduate training included attachments at Great Ormond St, London and Cincinnati Children’s Medical Centre, Ohio.
Phil Black
Phil is a consultant anaesthetist at Prince of Wales Hospital with a long standing interest in critical airway management and simulation. Phil is an instructor at the Sydney Clinical Skills & Simulation Centre.
Derrick Tin
Derrick is a Disaster Medicine specialist with extensive operational experience deploying into austere and remote environments. He is an Associate Professor (Critical Care) at University of Melbourne and a senior Fellow in Emergency & Disaster Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
John Pereira
John is an interventional radiologist who held roles at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan before establishing a combined adult and paediatric practice at Sydney Children’s and Prince of Walkes Hospitals.
Gary Williams
Gary is an honorary intensivist at Sydney Children’s Hospital. Research interests include sepsis physiology and management as well as skeletal muscle dysregulation in the critically ill patient. Gary has been an APLS instructor since 1997 and maintains a strong interest in general paediatrics.
Andrew Numa
Andrew is a paediatric intensivist and respiratory physician at Sydney Children’s Hospital. Research interests include acute respiratory pathophysiology and epidemiological studies from large critical care databases.
Donovan Dwyer
Donovan is a senior emergency staff specialist at St George and Sydney Children's Hospitals and Co-DEMT and Director of Trauma at SCH. Interests include simulation and an obsession with limiting the ordering of non-indicated tests.
